Stop Draggin My Heart Around - at 60!

By Bob on May 18, 2009 6:00 AM

Stevie Nicks at 60.jpg

Be still my beating heart.  The one and only Stevie Nicks (is there another one?) is 60, touring and still smokin' hot.  It's not remarkable that this Boomer-Babe has reached retirement age.  What IS remarkable is that she's able to do it in rock-star style.

She's currently out on tour with Fleetwood Mac while releasing a new solo CD "The Soundstage Sessions" AND a new solo concert DVD "Live in Chicago".  Stevie's the freakin' Energizer Bunny all dressed up in a black Morgane Le Fay wedding dress, top hat and enough scarves to perform the "dance of the seven veils" 50 times over.   And that's before intermission.

Stevie's Never Had a Face Lift

and quit Sun tanning 32 Years Ago.

Good Call.

She claims in a WowOWow (one of our favorite go-to sites) interview that she's never had a facelift and gave up laying in the sun 32 years ago (good call).  Like many guys, I'm no expert when it comes to good looks or taking care of myself.   But Stevie - and a few of her female rock goddess contemporaries - have managed to maintain at least an aura of allure as they remain on tour.

Have the Rock Gods fared as well as the Goddesses?

No way, dude.  Too many of them took the live-fast-die-young-leave-a-pretty-corpse approach.  How would Jim Morrison have looked at 60?  Ditto, Hendrix, Elvis and Gram Parsons.  Would they still be touring or even walking?  The smart money says NO.  But, to be fair there are a few Boomer Rock Gods who defy the odds.

Charlotte and her gal pals still swoon over Don Henley, Glen Frey, Timothy B. Schmit (I can't tell you why) and even Jackson Browne.  I don't know what they see in them other than they're:

* Good looking

* Play rock guitar, and are

* Filthy, stinkin', RICH

Sorry, Guys.  When it comes to maintaining good looks, Boomer Rock Goddesses seem to hold all the cards.  And from what I've seen (second row, first balcony, next to the guy drinking his fifth Bud Light) Stevie Nicks is about as good as it gets.  She'll be dragging hearts around all the way to the pearly gates.

So tell me Boomers, which Boomer Rock Gods and Goddesses look good to you?

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
