Dark under-eye circles run in my family. Or so it seems because my younger sister Pam and I have searched many a shelf for ways to lighten the racoon-like patches under our eyes. That's why I was excited to try Hylexin, "the first product specifically developed for serious dark circles."

According to ShopSmart Magazine's July 2010 issue, under-eye discolorations stem from a combination of factors, including dilated blood vessels, pigmentation, sun damage, fluid accumulation and age-related thinning of skin.


Regardless of the cause, Bremenn Research Labs says Hylexin's blend of plant-based bioflavanoids and peptides plus five botanical extracts can help. Fragrance-free Hylexin has been shown to reduce dark shadows, red-blue hues and under-eye bags while reinforcing thin tissues around the eyes that can emphasize color differences in the eye area.


What I like

I can feel it working. After applying a tiny amount of the lightweight, moisturizing cream to clean, dry skin and lightly massaging until it's absorbed, I feel warmth. Soon after starting my twice daily Hylexin regime, I'm noticing a difference. My eyes seem brighter. I can't quite walk away from my concealer but I seem to be using less.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.


If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.
