Slix Briefs for Men

By Bob on July 1, 2010 2:12 PM

Underwear is not something I spend much time thinking about. I'm a middle-aged boxer guy. I like my cotton boxers. They're comfortable, durable and I wear 'em till they fall apart. It's a GUY THING.

That's why I was surprised when I got an email from a female, probably twenty-something PR person asking if I'd like to test some new men's underwear called Slix.

I gotta confess, MY JUNK DIDN'T EXACTLY JUMP AT THE CHANCE.

But, then a still small voice (not Charlotte's) said, "Hey Bob, why not harness the power of the internets and tell your Boomer brothers about the first innovation in men's underwear in 100 years."

Next thing you know I've ditched my cotton boxers and I'm wearing my first pair of Slix.

Slix are the brainchild of Dallas resident Greg Hall. His idea was to do for professional men what garment manufacturers had done for athletes: build a brief that enhanced comfort and performance. Designed to be worn under business suits, casual attire and even swim trunks, Slix combines high-tech textiles (81% Cationic Polyester 19% Elastane) in a design that breathes and wicks perspiration.

So, armed with that knowledge and no clean cotton boxers to wear, I tried 'em out. Boy, did I try 'em out.

It was one of those days that included three hours at the office, followed by a three-hour car commute, a 2 ½ hour board meeting and a return to the office for a late night slaving away at the world wide intertube. Oh, and did I mention that it's June and the heat/humidity index was pushing 104? Yeah, it was TEXAS hot.

The Slix proved to be, well, slick. I really liked them. The form-fitting material was soft and the flat seams didn't cut into my waist or thigh. And since they don't "hang loose" like traditional cotton boxers, the vented and breathable pouch (I never thought I'd say that on this web site) kept everything in place.

So what's the verdict? Slix have earned a place in my underwear drawer. Move over martini-print boxers there's a new sheriff in town. His name is Slix and -- as you can easily see in the photo - he's packin'!

Boomer Brief says give Slix a try. The briefs are sold online and if you enter the Promo Code Boomer15 they'll give you a 15% discount.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
