Sandals to FlipOut About

By Charlotte on February 11, 2011 6:00 AM

After almost two weeks of bitter COLD in Texas, here comes the sun. Hallelujah!

With temps in the 70s expected next week, I'm even thinking about pulling out some of my sandals. I have the cutest new Pink-331.jpgFlipOut Haute Jellies that I'm dying to wear.

You won't believe this amazing little summer staple. Besides boasting a smokin' hot shade of pink and just a hint of heel, it's actually two shoes in one.

It comes with two sets of decorative ornaments that you can change out for different looks. There's a pretty pink flower perfect for poolside plus a dazzling jeweled design that cries "take me out." The decorations twist on and off with ease (that's a big deal when you have my wimpy wrists). And since they don't involve snaps or clips, they stay put.

Here comes the sun! We're celebrating by giving away a FREE pair of trendy, black Brazilian Flip Flops from our friends at FlipOut Sandals.

Read on for details. Contest ends Feb. 24!

Available in pink (it's boomer-licious!), clear and smoke colors, this trendy jelly is the brainchild of Baby Boomer ad agency owners Cheryl Hamersmith-Stewart and Tracey Hunter of Miami. The comfort- and fashion-conscious duo created this new sandal line with the beach in mind.

"Our vision was to create a shoe so versatile it could transform its look when you change yours. Now, the same sandals you wear on the beach can just as easily be imgFlipFlops 4-231.jpgworn in the evening with the simple twist of your wrist." Tracy says. "FlipOut Sandals can be worn so many ways we think you will seriously reconsider ever packing any other shoes."

(Packing fewer shoes? You'd think Bob was behind this.)

The new FlipOut sandal collection also includes a traditional Brazilian Flip Flop, which reminds me of those gorgeous Havaianas that I first spotted in Grand Cayman last spring. The Brazilian comes in beautiful black, metallic copper, metallic silver and go-with-everything white. Like the jelly, the Brazilian includes two sets of removable floral-design ornaments.

RareWhiteOrchid-125.jpgSince you can change the look of either style by choosing another of the 11 detachable and interchangeable decorations available, it's easy to love these shoes. Ornament options include richly jeweled designs like Rare White Orchard, Happy Heart, Fluttering Butterfly, Dazzling Pink Daisy and more. What a great way to stretch your wardrobe!

The Brazilian Flip Flop ($19.99) and Haute Jelly ($34.99) are available at Flipoutsandals.com, Additional ornaments can be purchased for $9.99-$16.99 a pair.

You could win a fabulous pair of FlipOut Brazilian Flip Flops FREE. With these wardrobe stretchers, you'll receive two sets of crystal-studded ornaments in double-heart and blooming-rose designs that you can change out for different looks.

To enter, just email your name, shoe size (6 - 10) and mailing address (no PO Boxes please) to Enter@BoomerBrief.com by Feb. 24 and put "FlipOut!" in the subject line.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
