Rapido Nail Lacquer

By Charlotte on June 13, 2011 6:07 AM

It's sandal season in Texas so you won't catch me without a splash of color on my toenails.

My poor fingernails, however, are another story. I usually ignore them, pretending to prefer an au natural look. But the truth is I hate holding my hands still long enough for polish to dry and it just never seems to last on my hard-working fingers (I guess that's the price of all this blogging!).

So when I heard Borghese had a new fast-drying nail color called, Rapido, I just had to give it a try.

What the Experts Say

Borghese's quick-drying Rapido nail colors include bold brights and chic Italian neutrals. These long-wearing, nail-strengthening lacquers contain Borghese's exclusive Aqua di Vita complex to help restore moisture and balance, while Micronized Gemstones add strength and brilliance. Each shade comes with a Duale Curve Tip Brush custom designed to hug the shape of your nail for smooth, flawless application that lasts up to seven days.

I tried four of the 12 fab new colors in this quick-dry line: Lira (luminous gold), Marino (just a bit darker than sky blue), Maraschino (hot pink) and Violetto (deep lavender).

What I like

True to their name, these little statement-makers dry quickly. What a treat! I could actually touch my nails and even start a load of laundry within minutes of applying the trendy metallic Lira. This subtle gold has a sexy shimmer.

The others I tried (Maraschino, Marino and Violetto) perked up my look with stunning summer color, minus the sparkle. I wore my favorite, bright pink Maraschino to my beautiful niece Brittany's wedding.  Since it actually matched one of the colors in my White House Black Market dress, three coats of this little nail pick-me-up proved perfect for this special occasion as well as for work the next week. Nice!

And all the rich, saturated hues are free of DBP's, Toluene and added Formaldehyde.

On the Shelf

Available at ULTA.com, ULTA and drugstores nationwide, the Borghese Rapido Fast Dry Lacquer collection includes these 12 bold brights and go-with-anything neutrals:

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
