Give Boomer Skin a Natural Boost ... Free

By Charlotte on March 23, 2012 4:58 AM

Lasers. Fillers. Facial Peels. With birthday 55 coming up, I could use MAJOR help perking up my skin. After all, I'd like to keep that I'm-afraid-it's-inevitable face lift off my Bucket List as long as possible. Skincare Essentials 450.jpg

But wouldn't it be nice to find a natural path to better skin? The folks at Clairvoyant Beauty want to help some lucky Boomer Babes do just that. They've joined us to give away two of their popular Skincare Essentials Kits (each an almost $250 value).

You could win Clairvoyant Beauty's Skincare Essentials Kit, a sensational six-step system to a naturally beautiful complexion:

We're giving away two of these approximately $250-value prizes, which are Clairvoyant creator Lexie Masterson's personal prescription to better skin.

Especially effective for dry or mature skin, these six-step solutions work for all skin types. They're Clairvoyant Beauty creator Lexie Masterson's personal prescription for beautiful skin the whole year through.

To make them, she selected natural and organic ingredients from the purest and most powerful plants. Her formulas make generous use of botanicals like calming Lavender, skin-softening Rose, sensory-transporting Jasmine and astringent Hibiscus Flower. Cucumber and Aloe Vera Juices heal, and anti-aging nutrient DMAE firms and tones.

EaDetoxClayClnsrWithDMAE 50.jpgch kit includes six skin-tastic treatments sure to wake up your complexion:

Detoxifying Clay Cleanser - This gentle, clay-based cleanser washes away daily build up without stripping skin of natural oils. Besides removing dirt, excess oil and makeup, this little pick-me-up uses DMAE, an anti-aging nutrient, to firm and tone. It preps your face to get the most from Clairvoyant Beauty's next steps, leaving it clean and soft with no worry of dryness. And Pink Grapefruit Essential Oil gives it a nice citrus scent. ($32 for 4 ounces)

Simply Rosewater Toner - If you find the thought of a toner somewhat terrifying (guilty!), relax. This one's really gentle. Made with skin-softening Bulgarian Rose, this born exfoliator actually hydrates while helping restore skin to its natural pH state. One sweep removes any remaining traces of dirt, makeup and cleanser, helps fight blemishes AND reduce wrinkles (yes, some Boomers worry about both!), and tightens pores. It also promotes healing and continues prNourshngMdwfmSerum 40.jpgiming your skin to maximize the benefits of the treatments to come. ($28 for 8 ounces)

Nourishing Meadowfoam Facial Serum - A strong ally in the fight against aging, this skin quencher blends hydrating Meadowfoam Seed Oil with the powerful anti-aging compound DMAE; anti-oxidant Vitamins A, B, C and E; and exfoliating fruit acids. I've been using this potent amber lotion on my face and neck every morning and evening after cleaning and toning for about a month. It's super moisturizing without feeling greasy and has helped brighten my complexion so I don't look so washed out. ($69 for 1 ounce)

RosewaterEyeCream 50.jpgRosewater Eye Cream - This light, 95 percent organic cream can be a lifesaver if, like me, you're irritated by little expression lines and creases around your eyes. Its five-star ingredients (Bulgarian Rosewater, Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, Vitamin E and Glycerin) help soften and smooth the eye area. It's great for everyday use as well as soothing skin zapped by harsh weather conditions ... even spring winds in Texas ... because it helps heal and prevent dryness and chapping without feeling heavy. ($32 for .5 ounces)

Exfoliating AHA Scrub - Packed with natural exfoliators, this 83 percent organic cream gives dead surface cells the brush off. I like keeping this skin brightener in the shower where it's reaExfltngAHAscrub_SkinRejvntngCrm 100.jpglly easy to rinse away. Then twice a week, I put it on my wet face and rub in for about a minute. It has tiny, massaging pebbles that perk up your look without causing unwanted redness. ($43 for 4 ounces)

Skin Rejuvenating AHA Cream - This light lotion is an anti-aging powerhouse. It includes natural alpha-hydroxy acids from grapes, citrus fruits, apples and sugar cane to remove dead surface cells that can make skin appear pale. Especially effective when paired with the Exfoliating AHA Scrub, this gentle refresher is kinder than commercial AHAs.

I've had a wonderful experience with this skin renewing treatment, although it can irritate extremely sensitive skin. I like using it as a follow-up to the Meadowfoam Facial Serum because it gives me a triple boost, softening, smoothing and brightening my complexion. ($38 for 2 ounces)

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
