Nine Hot Lip Looks

By Charlotte on April 30, 2012 6:13 AM

Feel like your pout could use a pick-me-up? Think color. Orange (it is the color of the year) and pink are some of the hottest shades for spring and summer. Other fun hues making lip news include red (it's not just for winter anymore), natural tones and even purple.

How's a girl to choose with so many delicious options? Check out the nine fabulous finds below. Besides being right on trend, these lust-worthy choices are friends to Boomer-age skin.Duri 69.jpg

Duri Lush Lips Plumping Lip Shine

Crave fuller lips? A swipe of Duri Cosmetic's new Plumping Lip Shine could do the trick. It pumps up the volume by stimulating collagen production. This multi-talented gloss also includes a healing blend of vitamins and hydrating oils that help reduce fine lines and cracks while laying on the shine.

Although it's available in six, sensational shades, I'm partial to shimmery pink Iced Roses. flamenco 50.jpg

Iced Roses

Josie Maran Magic Marker Lip and Cheek Stain

This two- in-one pen perks up your pout as well as your cheeks with gorgeous color. Hyaluronic Acid and sugar extracts help smooth and exfoliate your pucker (nice!). Since we're talking stain, this look stays put for hours, even when you drink lots of green tea like me. And you can go for the bold without worrying about color drifting into fine lines.

Want a glam, night-on-the-town-perfect red that's easy to wear? Choose Flamingo and top it with a clear gloss for shine.

On the Shelf: $19 at Sephora and Sephora.com

Laura Mercier Lip Stain

I love stains because I'm not one for constantly reapplying lip color. However, they can suck the moisture right out of your lips. That's why I wanted to try Laura Mercier's version. It provideIS Mulberry Lip Stain 200.jpgs long-lasting, sheer color with the comfort of a balm.

You even get some sexy shine with this vitamin-infused formula. And it comes in a clear, glass pot that makes it easy to touch on your color and go.

Of the seven shades, Mulberry (a deep, purple-based pink) is a scene-stealer with around-the-clock appeal. Glide on one coat and you're set for the office. Feeling flirty? You can up the drama by applying several layers.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.
