Minimergency Kit

By Charlotte on November 21, 2012 6:17 AM

My friend Debbie always looks trendy, sporting a cute, little crossbody bag. I wish I could do the same, especially when we travel, but I normally carry too much stuff. First off, I've got to have credit cards, coupons and keys. Then hairspray, lip balm and breath mints along with tons of other just-in-case-I-need-'ems.

Pinch Provisions must have been thinking of me when they designed their Glitter Minimergency Kit. Sized to fit in the palm of your hand, this glam girl's go-to includes 17 thoughtful fix-me-ups to keep you looking and feeling fab while on the go this holiday season.

The Minimergency Kit comes in eight glittering colors: black and silver multi, sliver multi, blue, pink, chartreuse, silver, red and gold.

What the Experts Say

The Minimergency Kit includes a complete set of miniature beauty and personal care essentials designed to help you tackle every emergency from chapped lips to nail repair. It measures 3.5" x 2.25" x 2.25" and comes in eight glittering colors: black and silver multi, sliver multi, blue, pink, chartreuse, silver, red and gold.

What I Tested

I tried Pinch Provisions' Glitter Minimergency Kit in the silver-multi color.

What I like

This adorable mini is a great way to dress up and organize your bag. It includes 17 tiny helpmates ready to come to your rescue: hairspray, clear nail polish, nail polish remover, an emery board, lip balm, two metal earring backs, two clear elastics, a mending kit with a needle and four colors of thread, a safety pin, double-sided tape, stain remover, a deodorant towelette, two Advil, breath freshener, dental floss, an adhesive bandage and a tampon.

More than half the items can be used several times. The sweet little lip balm offers more than 100 applications. Shemergency double-stick tape comes in a resealable bag. And the hairspray, breath drops, nail polish, emery board, mending kit, elastics, safety pin and earring backs will see you through many mishaps. The remaining pieces come in handy, one-use packets. That's a lot of insurance for $15 and refill kits are available.

In addition to putting a raft of emergency essentials in easy reach, this clever companion frees up tons of space in my big carry-all giving me more room for coupons. And the compact size makes it a breeze to stash in smaller bags like cross bodies and clutches (so long as they don't have an envelope design) and Christmas stockings where the Minimergency Kit makes a fun gift for just about any girl.

Thanks to its compact size, the Glitter Minimergency Kit  fits easily in smaller bags like this cross body.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
