It's a coming of age tale set in the 1960s about a couple of misfit kids who find themselves by running away. The pre-teen protagonists Sara and Sam are too smart for their own good and - like every good romantic comedy - have an easy time outsmarting the bad guys. There are no car chases or nudity (it's PG-13) but there's plenty of action and deadpan comedy to keep it interesting. With an all-star cast featuring Bill Murray, Frances McDormand, Bruce Willis, Edward Norton, Tilda Swinton and Jason Schwartzman, Moonrise Kingdom belongs on your pre-Christmas playlist.
Playing Favorites is a column where Charlotte and I pull back the curtain on our Boomer lives to show you what we're into these days. It may be a movie we've discovered. A new restaurant. Great food. Interesting drink. A song we can't get out of our heads...it could be anything. It's all about discovery and the stuff that makes us happy. So, step inside our world and let us show you around. Don't mind the dust, the housekeeper comes on Thursday.
