Why You Should Host a Summer Party for Your Staff

By Bob on August 18, 2016 2:05 AM

The heat of summer is upon us and with it comes the opportunity to party with the sun, yet so many of us are walking around in long sleeve business suits with no relief in sight.

If you own a business, consider for a moment the advantages of not being such a cruel tyrant and letting your employees wear whatever they want (within the boundaries of appropriate) at the workplace. Heck, let's take it a step further and throw a summer party for all the staff why don't we?

Why on Earth would you want to do that, you ask?

Well, here are four reasons:

BBQ Party-600.jpg1. Encouraging Spontaneity

Did you know that being spontaneous during off hours can increase creativity and productivity exhibited when you return to work?

Furthermore, giving staff members the chance to party with each other will make things more comfortable and fluid when the group returns to working together in a professional sense. One way we make our summer staff parties spontaneous is to play BBQ slot games while having an actual barbie - you get to take whatever dish your spin lands on from the buffet table.

2. Raising Employee Morale

Another great reasons to have a summer barbie and party for your company is to raise the morale of employees. At the party you can offer awards to your top performers to show them they're appreciated and give gifts and compliments to everyone to make it a positive experience. Surveys and studies have shown that companies who hold parties and give their employees rewards are more likely to have an enthusiastic and cooperative workforce than those who leave morale maintenance up to chance.

3. Getting to Know Your Staff

Of course, the party setting is a lot more comfortable than being in the workplace, so you'll have an opportunity to speak to your employees on a more personal level. At the very least, you'll find the topics will vary more than they do when you're only discussing work-related issues, so it is a fun way to find out a little more about your staff members' personalities and interests.

4. Building a Tight-Knit Group

A group that can party well together is a group that can work well together. Holding a summer party might seem like a way to distract yourself from the challenges of running a business, but in reality it can be a way to bring your employees closer together so that they're better at collaborating while on the job. This is a concept that is utilized in many industries, such as in law enforcement, where officers will often serve alongside the same partners for years.

The Premier League Season is Coming!

Finally, what better time to throw a staff party than the beginning of the 25th season of the Premier League? Whenever you gather around a football match and you have a party full of people rooting for different sides it's bound to be fun.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
