By now you've probably seen the Facebook cooking videos that feature disembodied hands cooking a simple recipe in double-time. Have you dared try any of these recipes yet?
If you've ever attempted a Pinterest craft only to have it turn out looking like your toddler did it, you might be skeptical about these quick cooking videos. Try some of the following, though, because they feature great recipes with clear directions and end results that are worth the work in the kitchen!
Greek Yogurt Dip
Everyone's definition of "easy" in the kitchen is different. Tasty's Greek Yogurt Dip is easy even for a kitchen novice, and it creates the perfect appetizer for a dinner party or a barbecue. All you do is mix a few ingredients into Greek yogurt, cut up your favorite veggies, and present them nicely on a platter. It's simple enough to view on your smartphone while you're cooking. Prop up the five-inch screen of your Samsung Galaxy S7 in your kitchen for easy viewing, and get started!
The video suggests raw carrots, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, cherry tomatoes, and cucumbers, but you're not limited to these. Pick your favorites! Add some olives, zucchini, radishes, asparagus, or snap peas. Try a dash of chili powder in the Greek yogurt dip itself for a slightly spicy offering.
Chocolate Cream Cheese Stuffed Monkey Bread
This mouth-watering recipe is deceptively simple. Even people who don't think they have talent with baking can handle crafting this dish. The trick? You use pre-made biscuit dough, the kind that comes in a roll that you just pop open and separate. You use it to make little dumplings filled with cream cheese and chocolate chips.
Walnuts and a brown sugar glaze go into a bundt cake pan before baking, and the whole thing is relatively simple for something that tastes so decadent. Try adding peanut butter chips inside the biscuits to complement the chocolate. If you know someone allergic to nuts, skip the walnuts. The recipe will still turn out delicious.
Cauliflower Potato Salad
Potatoes and cauliflower are both healthy options, but sometimes it's great to mix up tastes and textures by creating a surprise twist on a popular dish.
You start by baking cauliflower. Then you create a yogurt mix, and chop onion, celery, and hard boiled eggs. Notice that the person in the video doesn't add the entire contents of the yogurt bowl when mixing it all together. Start with about half of the yogurt mixture, stir it up, and see if you need more than that.
You're free to modify the ingredients in this dish. If you don't like celery or onions, by all means, leave them out. Or substitute either with some crisp carrot instead. By the way, once you bake the cauliflower, you can stop the recipe right there if you want to. That step alone creates a delicious treat. Baked cauliflower is a fantastic side dish to go with dinner; it also tastes great dipped in your favorite veggie dip!
Baked Apple Roses
This takes a bit more effort than the other recipes listed here, but it's worth it. Slicing the apples into the perfect thin shapes will take some practice, but getting them thin enough is essential to the recipe. When you get to the stage where you roll everything up, don't roll too tightly, or the apple slices will break.
Your first few might look more like Pinterest disasters than you were hoping for, but they'll still be delicious! Just keep slicing and rolling until you craft the perfect rose. It won't take as long as you think. Remember that the taste will change based on the type of apples you use, so experiment with a few different kinds.
Choose a recipe you know you'll slay right off the bat in order to boost your confidence in recipe videos. Then, pick one you're not so sure you can complete but are dying to try. Sometimes all you need is a bit of practice before you're a master. Get creative by modifying them however you please, too!
