Improving Your Vacation Videos

By Bob on May 17, 2012 4:28 AM

With the popularity of smartphones, vacation videos have never been easier to take - or harder to watch. Let's face it, most videos are BORING. The majesty of the Grand Canyon is really something to behold, until it's beheld on a 3.5" screen.

Wouldn't it be great if there was an easy way to make videos your friends and family actually want to watch? That's what the folks at Vibop 2.0 must've been thinking. Their new FREE App helps anyone add some amazing Hollywood effects to videos shot on their iPhone or iPod Touch.

Vibop-480.jpgThe App is perfect for vacation videos. Features include:

Hollywood-like Themes

With just a few touches, you can add different themes to your movies, complete with an intro, title, font, video effect, soundtrack and outro. Available themes include Silent Film, Super 8, Comic Book, Love Note, Tech Talk, Beatz, Postcard and a theme to create videos with the look of your Twitter profile.

Here's a video I created using the "Silent Film" theme and some footage I had of my Dad feeding his pet geese. Check it out.

Create Your Own

You can shoot with Vibop or use video from your camera roll. Vibop's "Customize It" option even allows you to mix and match effects and create your own theme.

Twitter Vibop Theme

Vibop is the only App that can automatically customize videos using the same look and feel as your Twitter page, including the Twitter handle, picture and background. Vibop creates an animated Twitter intro so followers will know every video you tweet is uniquely yours.

Easy Saving and Sharing

You can save your videos to the NewBlue Video Cloud, or your camera roll. Sharing via email, YouTube, Facebook or Twitter can be done quickly right from the App.

What I like

Cost: It's FREE.

Creativity: It's easy to make fun videos your friends will actually watch.

What Needs Work

Editing: You can't edit footage with this App. So, if you want to cut down that 5-minute waterfall video into something someone would watch, you're out of luck.

It's too Popular: The bad news is that Vibop's site can crash while you're completing a video. The good news is that if it does crash, you won't lose your video footage - just the Vibop video you were creating. There are only three steps to making a video, so it's easy to get back on that video horse if you get thrown.

Available FREE at the Apple App Store.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
