Scoop Up 3 Skincare Superstars ... Free

By Charlotte on May 18, 2012 6:02 AM

photo_Fiafini_group_products_hr 400.jpgSaving our faces can be a struggle for us Boomers. Besides worrying about lines and wrinkles, we have EXTREME moisture issues. Why did all that oil we complained about in high school have to do a vanishing act?

Sure, there're plenty of face creams out there but if your skin is on the sensitive side like mine choosing can be complicated. Anything too harsh just brings on breakouts, redness and even more dryness. Not a pretty picture!

That's why I was happy to check out Fiafini Skincare. Clinically proven to be safe for all skin types - including seriously sensitive, this 100% natural solution protects skin from environmental and free radical damage, dehydration and irritation. It uses the antioxidant power of South African Marula beauty oil (from trees said to be a source of health, healing and nutritional support) to promise anti-aging benefits you can see and feel.

And you just might have a chance to try it for yourself (whose feeling lucky?!). We've teamed up with Fiafini to give away their three, skin-friendly superstars: Delicate Cleansing Emulsion (4 ounces; $28), Divine Hydration Moisturizer (1.7 ounces; $40) and Deluxe Anti-Aging Eye Cream (.5 ounces; $38.50).

  • Delicate Cleansing Emulsion
  • Divine Hydration Moisturizer

This lightweight, creamy cleanser quickly dissolves dirt, oil and makeup while protecting against irritation. Nice! Thanks to the inclusion of Marula Oil, it leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth; not tight, dry or (worse!) red.

After using the cleanser twice daily for about a month, I'm impressed. Besides being kind to my complexion, it's wallet-friendly. The largest of the Fiafini family, it comes in a four-ounce bottle that, from the looks of it, will last many months. (4 ounces; $28)

Divine Hydration Moisturizer

This super hydrator firms, minimizes wrinkles and restores elasticity. Prickly Pear, Avocado and Evening Primrose extracts help soothe and calm redness while reducing environmental stress on the skin. Marula oil and vitamin E fight fine lines and wrinkles.

It took 58 pumps to urge this moisturizer out of the bottle the first go-round, but the effort has more than paid off because I really enjoy using this light lotion morning and night after cleansing. Although made to pour on the moisture, this vegan face saver goes on light and absorbs quickly. It's rich enough to help makeup glide on smoothly but never feels heavy or greasy. Judging from my use, one bottle should last about three months. (1.7 ounces; $40)

Deluxe Anti-Aging Eye Cream

deluxe-antiaging-eye-cream 50.jpgThe newest addition to the Fiafini family, this deeply hydrating cream helps refresh, repair and protect the delicate skin around your eyes from environmental damage and signs of aging. It includes:

Now, we're talking. This vegan beauty booster gives one of my biggest problem areas (dark circles run in my family) a lasting lift. I also adore that it helps keep my concealer from settling into the fine lines around my eyes. Maybe that's why it's my favorite of the group.

After using it morning and night for about a month, I'm guessing one bottle will last about two months. (.5 ounces; $38.50).

All Fiafini products are free of fragrance, alcohol, mineral oil and all parabens. Plus, they're not tested on animals.

Prepare your own Mexican quick fix with this Chipotle-inspired bowl. Carbs are moderated by filling the bowl with beans, extra veggies and chicken. No need for rice, since the beans count as carbs.

Tips:

If you love tomatoes, increase the quantity to 1/2 cup, but note that the carbohydrates will also increase.

If preparing this recipe for one person, cut all of the ingredients in half. Or simply prepare the full recipe up to the end of step 2 and store leftover chicken and vegetable-bean mixture in separate airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to 2 days. Reheat in the microwave on High for 1 to 2 minutes, or until heated through, and continue with step 3.

Health Bite: The iron, calcium, magnesium, manganese, copper and zinc in black beans help to keep bones strong and healthy.
